About Us
John Hancock Charter School (JHCS) is a tuition-free public charter school serving grades K–8 in Pleasant Grove and Eagle Mountain. Since opening in 2002, we’ve focused on inspiring a love of learning while achieving excellent results—most recently, 82.6% of our 3rd graders were reading on grade level, compared to the state average of 48%. Our students enjoy a rich and balanced education through Core Knowledge, Core Knowledge Language Arts, EnVision Math, hands-on STEM, visual art, and music. Beginning in 3rd grade, every student learns a string instrument, making music a central part of our school experience. We also emphasize patriotism, character education, and strong values that prepare children for lifelong success.
High Achievement
John Hancock Charter School students consistently perform among the top in Utah. Through a rigorous curriculum and a focus on mastery learning, high expectations, and character education, our students excel academically.
Whole-Child Education
Core Knowledge, STEM, art, and music are central to learning. Every student learns a string instrument beginning in 3rd grade, while patriotism and character education help build strong values.
Strong Community
Parents volunteer thousands of hours each year, creating a supportive, vibrant school culture recognized nationally as a Core Knowledge Visitation School, Charter School of the Year in 2023, and honored with the Krystal Key Award from the Quantum Learning Network.
